Batter Up!

It's Victoria Day here in Canada. In my neck of the woods there is very little actual celebrating of Queen Victoria's birthday. Instead, the May long weekend means one thing around my house. Baseball. Every May long weekend there is a ball tournament and that means for a few days we are punished, um, I mean thrilled to have the opportunity to sit on hard wooden bleachers for hours on end during pour rain, freezing cold, or blistering heat. This weekend we've had all three.

I confess that I'm a rather enthusiastic spectator. That means I'm a screamer. I yell, "You can do it (insert name)!" to every one of our pitchers and batters and other nonsensical comments like "he's coming!" to warn the catcher someone's trying to steal home or "C'mon on now, up and over" to encourage the pitcher. Then there's "c'mon trim that tree" or "to the fence now" to bolster the hitter. It's a huge responsibility to be the official screamer on a team. It's a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it :)

During the non-tournament season I've been known to sneak off with my laptop and write a few pages in my car. It's surprising how a bad call by the ump can translate into someone being murdered on the page he he.

Are you a baseball fan? Are you a screamer?

I'm a baseball fan and yes I'm a screamer. I've also been known to create songs to boost the team.

"hit 'em high, hit 'em low, show the pitcher where it will go"

Ooooh Dru, I quite like that song. Do I have your permission to use it?

My son is # 29 and I've been known to sing "twenty-nine he's so fine, he's so fine he'll blow your mind". My son insisted I wasn't allowed to come to another game if I sang that song again he he.

I used to watch baseball a lot but not so much these days. Not sure why.

Your son needs to learn to chill out. *g*

You're right,Tori. After all, how can I keep my title of Most Embarassing Mom in the @orld if I can't scream whatever I want?!

Wendy, you have my permission to use it. I often change the ending to how I feel about the game.

Wendy again, I like your song to 29.

We don't have baseball - we have cricket and football (which you probably call soccer). I scream a neither! My other half on the other hand thinks that football is a matter of life and death. He supports Chelsea and gets very 'upset' when they lose which in turn upsets his dog who trys all her best tricks (which normally make him laugh or at least smile) to change his mood but in vain - nothing alters his strop! He then has to leave the room before the poor dog has a nervous breakdown!

Baseball fan here, even if I never go to live games. And yes, I scream at the TV. Lucky for me, my husband thinks it's cute.

Dru, thanks!

Wend, his poor dog! I bring Bella to the games sometimes and the poor thing can't figure out what all the shouting is about ha ha!

B.E. great that hubby finds it cute. I'm guessing you control the urge to hurl things at the tv ;)

Football is the main sport here and the spring season has begun. Just like you sis I am a screamer, maybe we got it from our mother? I usually scream "get him, get him low" as my son plays defensive end.
