Recently I've been attempting to write the same scene using multiple points of view. It's a writing exercise I use sometimes when I don't feel I have proper emotion in a scene. The problem is that this particular scene didn't feel particularly right in any point of view. In the end I had to admit that it needed to be deleted. Not that I ever really delete anything LOL. What I do is save it in a separate file in case it can ever be used again elsewhere. I have deletion issues he he.
When I'm really enjoying a story I rarely pay attention to point of view. However, if anything in a story is annoying I find myself checking pov and sometimes wondering if the scene would've worked better from a different character's angle.
My Ghost Dusters series is written in deep third person with only Sadie's pov. It wasn't a decision I made. It just kind of happened that way. I thought I'd get a lot of comments/emails/flack about it but only one person has ever even mention it.
Do you have preferences for point of view when you read or write?

I enjoy first person. And I've gotten to where I write almost exclusively in first person. The exception is the 1920s murder mystery because I spend some time in my cop's head. :)

Hi, I'm B.E. and I have deletion issues. I'm a packrat of scene snippets.
I don't pay much attention to POV when I'm reading - unless it drags me out of the story, and then I just get irritated. As a writer, I'm mostly third limited, but I have a couple first POVs I'm working on. I guess it depends on how the story wants to be written.
