Oh no ... it's started!

I saw the festive red envelope in my mailbox yesterday and carefully avoided opening it until today. Ugh. It's started. The annual fill-your-calendar-every-night parade of holiday parties.

I wanted to pop it back in the mail return to sender with a scribbled note on the back that said, Look, I'm sorry but there's a law against inviting people to holiday events and making them feel like they should be out shopping when they really should be book writing and absolutely NOT shopping.

You may have guessed that I stress quite a bit about the Holiday Season. Most of that stress has to do with shopping. It is my least favorite thing to do. Scratch that. My least favorite thing is RETURNING things which also seems to happen a LOT during/around that time of year.

So I'm choosing not to think of shopping or parties that make me feel guilty for not shopping. Instead, I'm going to think how much fun it will be to draw someone's name on in my contest to win Ghost Dusters books and a $100 Amazon card hee hee. I get excited knowing I can maybe help someone with their shopping :)

How about you? What are you thinking of instead of worrying about shopping? Or *gasp* do you actually LIKE shopping??? I'll forgive you. Really.

I can't stand shopping - big sis and I go out a couple of times a year and hit the shops at the speed of light. None of this slow crawl, we do a 4mph minimum walk and only slow down if the shop has a good display of chocolate!
Add to that the fact that I just don't do Christmas at all - no cards, no presents, no decorations, nothing - bah humbug!

I'm addicted to playing BORDERLANDS on the XBox 360 so I'm not thinking about shopping. This year my family has agreed we'll spend less time shopping and more time doing fun stuff. They live in Orlando. Wonder if Mickey's thinking of shopping? lol!

I like a good sale, but the crowds are too much for me to handle. Online shopping is the way to go. Love the free shipping.

I hate shopping at malls or where ever there is a crowd. Online shopping is definitely the way to go.

LOL, I like shopping - as long as I can do it first thing in the morning when no one else is around. Right now, though, I'm thinking about trying to reach 50K words by 11/30. I'm about 6K behind and the days are running out. Ack. I'll worry about x-mas when it gets closer.

I hate shopping. And what shopping I do is done online. Way less stressful except for the part of figuring out what to get people.

But I'm still trying to avoid thinking about Christmas. I shouldn't have to deal with it until after Thanksgiving, thank you very much.

So I'm focusing on zombies and vampires and secret agents and kick-ass heroines. And the nuts in my family tree. *g*

I enjoy shopping for christmas but I get started early. So far I am about 1/2 way done. I do not enter a store after December 1st unless it is during a weekday and early morning.

I hate shopping alone, as I never know what to get for the people on my shopping list. I usually make something, like a crocheted doily or some such thing like that. But what do you get for your man? That is the question. Can't give him a a made doily or face cloth.

Online shopping is good - but I keep procrastinating and then start worrying about shipping deadlines. And then there's the decorating - if only I had a couple of elves to help out!!!
However, if you have to go shopping, go with a friend or two - helps alot!

I love Christmas and the holiday season BUT I hate shopping and most of all I hate going to the malls this time of years because of the busyness of it. I think I am feeling a bit scroogy this year....I do hope that will pass... :)

Try to keep humming your favorite Christmas tune. I usually start with something cheerful like Jingle Bells. By the end of the shopping I'm into Gramma got run over by a Reindeer...or alot of shoppers!! lol

Just so happens I'm heading up to Liverpool for one of our shopping trips on Wednesday but we are going to combine it with penguin hunting! (see: http://www.artinliverpool.com/blog/category/go-penguins/ and http://www.gopenguins.co.uk/site/)
Should be more fun than shopping
