To sleep, perchance to dream...

Like most people, I don't give a lot of thought to sleep unless I'm not getting enough. Like lately. It's not insomnia, I just have a lot on my plate so I'm up far too late and awake far too early with a lot of go go go between.

I know I'm sleep deprived when my very first thought when the alarm goes off is, 'today I'm going to have a nap'. The thought jumps into my head immediately and I want to laugh at the ridiculous nature of the idea because I NEVER nap. Not ever. Well, extremely rarely. I didn't nap when I had newborn babies in the house and everyone said oh you must nap when they do or you'll be exhausted. When I had 4 kids under age 6 and they were all napping I couldn't nap either. Napping just isn't part of who I am. The odd time when I happen to doze off for some weird reason (usually because I'm extremely sick), I've woken up feeling disconcerted, headachy, and just worse off.

I have friends who nap. They can nap for five minutes and be raring to go. I confess to nap envy. Do you ever nap?

I used to never nap. I always felt disoriented when I woke up - like it should be the next day. I was worse off for having had the nap than I would have been had I stayed awake. I have 3 (almost 4)-year old twins and I didn't nap too much when they were babies either. Now, though, I usually nap on the weekends when they do. They wear me out so much more now that they're older than when they were infants! I take sleep whenever I can get it now.

I rarely nap. I've tried, but I'm lucky to get a good night's sleep, so a nap is usually out of the question. However, I can imagine, if I'd had twins, that I WOULD nap.

Every once in a while, on the weekends, I'll take a short nap. Too long and I get like Conley730 - the dreaded nap hangover. After my daughter was born, I took naps. I had to. She was a night baby and wanted to be awake while it was dark. Ugh. Those weren't the best days in my parenting life.

Conley, isn't it true that kids are exhausting!!

Cindy, sounds like you have sleep issues that would be aggravated by twins :/

b.e., all my babies started off as "night babies" so I can relate. Looking back, I wonder how I survived. Not my best days either LOL!
